Focusing on money before respect earns you neither.

I know this is rank retail heresy, but for some customers the best thing to to is refer them away to someone else...

Want to Win a Political Debate? Try Making a Weaker Argument — Pacific...

"The arguments people make are those that appear the strongest to themselves and the people who already agree with them. But such arguments tend to be meaningless to people who disagree. How does this happen? It starts with the universal desire to protect against threats to your self-image or self-worth. People are driven to view themselves in a positive light, and they will interpret information and take action in ways that preserve that view. The need to maintain self-worth is one reason we attribute our failures to external factors (bad luck), but our success to internal factors (skill.)"

Why Queen Cannot Stop Donald Trump's Use Of 'We Are The Champions'

Re; the Sony/ATV/Queen issue with Trump's use of "We Are The Champions" - IANAL, but: 1) The RNC bought a prime time performance license, so there's not much to be done there. 2) If RNC or Trump are foolish enough to use the song in a commercial or alter the lyrics, then Sony/Queen's permission will be needed. 3) As for YouTube videos, any video with the song would quickly get a Content ID claim and/or copyright strike (not monetized - strike, monetized - claimed monetization) as Sony normally does that with other copyrighted material)

Obsolescence as a Service

"when even Google is willing to take the PR hit to effectively brick your devices, the only protection that you’ve got against obsolescence is an open protocol."

Meet SwagBot, the Robot Cowboy that Can Herd and Monitor Cattle on Its Own - Modern Farmer

While the working name sounds a bit trendy, it's shown itself to be quite useful (check out the YouTube video embedded in the article). I could see some urban uses for these bots - intracampus deliveries (corporate or collegiate), assisting Search and Rescue operations (if equipped with FLIR cameras), even as standard observe and report style intracampus security patrols.

Pokémon Go Strips Users Of Their Legal Rights; Here’s How To Opt Out

Something for Pokemon Go users to consider - the Terms of Service require you to opt OUT of binding arbitration within 30 days of activation - (IANAL, but I believe more available litigation options for me = good thing) Article has a link to the full TOS - just run a quick find command for "opt" and the the needed email and snail mail addresses come up.

Ingress - Game Reality

"There is no official Niantic map that lists all the PokeStop and Gym locations yet. One workaround is to use the online map of portals created over the last three years for the game "Ingress," also developed by Niantic, which maps virtually 1:1 with Pokemon Go's PokeStops and Gyms. Check out the map here after you install the Ingress app on your phone and sign in (you can use a Google account, and it only takes about a minute to set up). Once you have it set up, you'll be treated to a searchable world map of different "portals"-each one being either a PokeStop or a Gym in Pokemon Go."

Students From Donald Trump's Alma Mater: 'You Do Not Represent Us'

Nasty Lenovo UEFI exploit also affects products from other vendors

"Unfortunately, the affected products from Lenovo, HP and Gigabyte are probably just the tip of the iceberg and it will take a long time for all vendors to check their firmware and release patches. Even then, the adoption rate of BIOS/UEFI updates among users is typically low, so many systems will likely continue to remain vulnerable for years to come."
